Be cool, manBe cool, man

It may seem weird to talk about Nicholas Cage and his string of acting flicks. After all, you could ask if this really qualifies as fun trivia. Wait a bit, it's going to get interesting. The reason for this article is an ad for a Nicholas Cage movie that I came across recently. I didn't catch the name of the flick but it did make me wonder about his love affair with action movies.

Bale in EquilibriumBale in Equilibrium

A lot of folks hate this movie and yet, even more folks are crazy about it. I'm talking about Equilibrium, the modern take on the creepy totalitarian world depicted in Orwell's '1984'. I recently rewatched it and, following a discussion with no-so-big-EQ-fans, decided to dedicate one article to this cult classic. Take that, oh ye who make fun of Gun Kata!

Heavy MetalHeavy Metal

I discovered two fun facts this weekend; two noteworthy actors, Micheal Dorn and Christian Bale, did a bit of voice acting for popular animated movies/series. In these cases, they were projects which were unexpected moves by both actors. It was not because the projects were bad or anything along those lines; rather, think of it as a fun surprise to see them involved in the movies/series. So, to complete this list, I looked around to find famous actors and their little known voice acting ventures.

SlidersSliders

I've been catching up on old scifi shows in the past few months and came across Sliders. It was one of those old school series that was big in the 90s, only to be fazed out for bigger, brighter ( and might I add sillier) storylines. So this week, I thought I'd touch upon Sliders and learn a bit more about the show.

CrossoverCrossover

Have you ever wondered how often folks from one sci-fi show crossover to another one? I know people have written a number of fan fiction to this effect. But what about the actual instances – were there any similarities? Take Star Trek: The Next Generation, Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis. Casting Decisions: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

Harry Potter and the Half Blood PrinceHarry Potter and the Half Blood PrinceHarry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is the penultimate film in the Harry Potter series. The films have thrived thanks to the extraordinary success of the book series and this one took an amazing $391 million in its first five days after release. It has been hailed as a success by the majority of critics and fans although it has received a few negative reviews as well.

This is the sixth outing for Harry and throughout the films the central characters have, for the most part, remained the same. Each new film does always bring new characters to the table and further opportunities for new acting talent to get onboard. There are also changes of personnel behind the camera and while David Yates, who directed the last outing, ended up directing this as well it was not a foregone conclusion.
