"The Hurt Locker" has been hurt by its co-producer campaigning for the Oscar. Campaigning for an Oscar? Who would have thought it? Everybody!

Well, 'The Hurt Locker' co-producer Nicolas Chartier will be banned from the Academy Awards ceremony on March 7  for campaigning in a manner that is unbecoming for an Oscar campaigner. Well, what did he do? He wrote an email urging his friends to urge Academy Awards members to choose his movie, over the popular favorite, by the masses and the peons, that flick Avatar, for Best Picture.

Academy barons showed the knavish producer the rules, which  forbid "casting a negative or derogatory light on a competing film."  Well, doesn't he know that you can bad mouth a competitor, if you are selling toilet soap, but you can not bad mouth a competitors  when you are selling movies, because movies, rather film, is Hollywood art. And so, the high lords and ladies of Hollywood levied an unprecedented penalty for the knavish behavior, banishment. Well, denial of entrance to the awards ceremony. And if 'The Hurt Locker' does manage to win a prize,  the great barons have made it clear to Chartier, to the world, to other would be knaves, that if he should win a statute, it will be mailed to him. And maybe collect? After Chartier was caught acting like a knave, his fellow producers distanced themselves from him. Maybe just to save the movie and themselves from a PR nightmare?
